How to get to Camiguin Island, Philippines

This is just a quick rundown on how to get to the island of Camiguin in the Philippines. We’re not saying that this is the only way but these are just two of the ways to get there.

From Butuan City in Agusan del Norte:

From Bancasi airport in Butuan, you ride a multicab to the city proper and go to the “Bachelor Bus” terminal in Langihan. Ride the bus that’s bound for Cagayan de Oro. There are two kinds of airconditioned bus in there, the one that you must ride is the 5 stop bus, which is also called the King Long Bus, the fare is more expensive but you’ll get to your destination quicker. Tell the bus conductor that you’ll be getting off in Balingoan where Balingoan port is located. That’s more or less a two-hour ride from Butuan City. In Balingoan, you just need to walk several meters to the port or if you want you can ride a “motorized trike” for 5 pesos but it’s really near so it’s better to walk. When you get to Balingoan port, you then need to buy a ferry ticket that will take you Benoni port in Camiguin. That’s it. You’re in Camiguin. In Benoni, there will be lots of people that will bother you about tours and stuff so be ready.

From Cagayan de Oro City in Misamis Oriental:

From Lumbia airport in Cagayan de Oro, you ride a taxi to Agora market where the bus terminal is located. You know when you’re in the Lumbia airport, be aware that the taxi’s in there do not charge by the meter but by agreement, that is the taxi driver will tell how much you will pay before he agrees to take you there. When you get to Agora, ride again the King Long Bachelor Bus bound for Butuan. Tell the bus conductor that you’ll be getting off in Balingoan where Balingoan port is located. That’s more or less a two-hour ride from Cagayan de Oro.
