How to apply for Driver’s License in the Philippines

Driver’s License Application
Criteria And Qualifications
1. Must be at least:

* Sixteen (16) years old for Student Permit
* Seventeen (17) years old for Non-Professional License
* Eighteen (18) years old for Professional License and Conductor’s License

2. Must be physically and mentally fit to operate a motor vehicle
3. Must not be a drug user or alcoholic
4. Must be able to read and write in Pilipino or English
5. Must be clean, neat and presentable

Non-Professional License
Qualifications :
1. Must be at least seventeen (17) years old.
2. Must be physically and mentally fit to operate a motor vehicle
3. Must not be a drug user or alcoholic
4. Must be able to read and write in Filipino or English
5. Must be clean, neat and presentable
Requirements :
1. Duly accomplished Application for Driver’s License.
2. Valid Student Permit (at least one (1) month old)
3. Medical Certificate (from an LTO accredited or Government Physician) or valid AFP/PNP organic personnel ID
4. Negative Drug Test result (from DOH accredited drug testing center)
5. Taxpayer’s Identification Number (TIN).
6. Must have passed the written and practical examination.

Application Fee- Php. 25.00
Computer Fee – 52.80
TOTAL – 77.80
License Fee – Php.180.00
Computer Fee – 52.80
TOTAL – 232.80
Additional Requirements For Filipino/Foreigner with Valid or Expired Foreign License
1. Foreign License

* Original and photocopy of license
* Translation from Embassy/Consular Office (if license is not written in English)

2. Original valid Visa/Passport with photocopy (Foreigners)
Note: A foreign driver’s license is not acceptable for conversion into Philippine driver’s license if:

* The foreign license is not written in the English language; or
* The country of origin of the driver’s license has no embassy in the Philippines

Professional License
Qualifications:
1. Must be at least eighteen (18) years old.
2. Must be physically and mentally fit.
3. Must not be a drug user or alcoholic.
4. Must be able to read and write in Filipino or English.
5. Must be clean, neat and presentable.
Requirements :
1. Duly accomplished Application Form for Driver’s License.
2. Valid Student Permit (at least five (5) months old / NP – 4 mos. old).
3. Medical Certificate (from an LTO accredited or Government Physician) or valid AFP/PNP organic personnel ID.
4. Negative Drug Test result (from DOH accredited drug testing center)
5. Taxpayer’s Identification Number (TIN).
6. Clearances
– NBI, Police or Court Clearance or Certificate from Commanding Officer, if a military personnel.
7. Must have passed the written and practical examination.

* Any legal or government issued document to prove his/her age and identity (SSS ID, PhilHealth ID, GSIS ID, TIN ID, Pag-ibig ID, Company ID)

3. Clearances (Any of the following)

* NBI Clearance
* Police Clearance
* Court Clearance

4. Medical Certificate (from an LTO accredited or Government Physician)
5. Taxpayer’s Identification Number (TIN)
6. Must have passed the written examination.

License Fee – Php. 210.00

    Hello, I have my non-prof license with me, and will getting married next month, how can I change from my maiden name to married name in my license? what are the requirements? Can I renew my driver’s license even if the expiration date will be on 2010? thanks a lot

    Evelyn, I think you just need to pay a fee if you’re changing your name. Well that was my experience with changing an address. And you can renew it before it expires.

    hi! when my husband’s non-pro license was released, we didn’t notice that there is an error with his date of birth. he was born 1976 but it was indicated there that he was born on 1973. what are the requirements and procedures to do to have it changed? thanks.
